South By Southwest ’09 is long gone, but we unearthed this performance of Sebastien Granger at the Radio Room this past March (as part of the Saddle Creek showcase) because it’s well worth a viewing and also because there’s nothing like rocking out to fend off the cold, dreary winter days outside.
Sporting slick suspenders and a shaved head, Grainger rips through a 40-plus-minute set that includes many songs from 2008′s Sebastien Grainger and the Mountains. He’s backed by a band of relentlessly hard-hitting dudes hell-bent on shredding the night away. You’d be well-advised not to pull the plug on this act mid-set, which is exactly what happens here. Suffice to say, dude suddenly becomes the living embodiment of the third song on the evening’s setlist.
A clip of “Love Can Be So Mean” is below. To view the full set, meltdown included, go here.
