Choir of Young Believers is the brainchild of Danish producer Jannis Noya Makrigiannis, who released This is for the White in Your Eyes in the last half of 2009. Two singles from the album have already been released, and a third, “Claustrophobia,” is on the way and will come packaged with some remixes, including one from Peter Silberman of The Antlers.

When it comes to making videos, The Antlers have a great knack for choosing images that complement their eerie, melancholy brand of indie rock (see the haunting series of still images on the video for “Kettering”).
“Bear” is off the band’s gorgeous debut album, Hospice, and the song’s video follows a girl clad in rags as she maneuvers a cart around a desolate, landscape that’s reminiscent at times of last year’s sepia-toned, post-apocolyptic pic, The Road.

The Antlers‘ Hospice will likely make a few Year End lists. And it should. The album’s mostly first-person narrative follows a man as he watches a loved one die of bone cancer, and that’s just the lyrical content of the album. Musically, the haunting pianos, layers of minor chords, and introspectively sung vocals make Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago feel like a frat party.
Peter Silberman and Co. chose to present the video for the track “Kettering” (without a doubt, one of the best songs on the album) as a series of still photographs. Remember that old saying about a picture being worth a thousand words?
