Orenda Fink closed out 2009 by releasing her second solo full-length, the carefully understated, folk-flavored Ask the Night. Here is the video for the record’s track “High Ground,” which features an almost mythical black-and-white landscape of trees, full-moons, and girls clad in white (Via Popwreckoning).

Fink, meanwhile, recently shared some thoughts on the Haiti disaster, which you can read here. She maintains a close relationship to the country, which she has traveled to several times and drew heavy inspiration from on her first solo album, 2005′s Invisible Ones.

After spending quality time with her indie-pop outfit Art in Manilla, as well as with Cedric LeMoyne, for O + S, Alabama-born songstress and Azure Ray member Orenda Fink emerges with a second solo album, Ask the Night.

She’s favoring a much more stripped-down style of songwriting these days, pulling from traditional folk and Southern Gothic music that showcases her singing nicely. Take a listen to the moody, understated “That Certain-Something Spring.”
