The mash-up-style video was, according to an email blast from BSS, made by a fan (who’s chosen to remain anonymous) and features footage from the Toronto riots sliced together with clips of notable political figures. And Justin Bieber somehow made it in there too.

Michael Cera's up to it again, with another big-screen comic book adaptation for which he's enlisted the help of Beck, Broken Social Scene, and a couple acts called Crash and the Boys and SEX BOB-OMB. Wait, who?

I remember reading an interview with Michael Cera not long after the release of Juno in which he explained his fear of getting famous. Maybe some saw his misgivings about long-term participation in the movie industry. Mostly, I think we’ve all accepted him for who he is, typecast or not, and the fact that he’s become what seems the poster boy for that indie movie with that indie soundtrack.

I think you know what I’m talking about…

2007: Juno – Syncing the Moldy Peaches to high school kids’ iPods everywhere
2008: Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist – Devendra Banhart, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses…
2009: Paper Heart – Pretty much Cera himself doing the indie thing himself. Still that movie, though.

And he’s up to it again with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, another comic book adaptation for the big screen that’s due to open August 13. The soundtrack, naturally, comes packed with tunes from Crash and the Boys and SEX BOB-OMB!

Uh…who?

These are actually the fictional monikers of Broken Social Scene and Beck, respectively. Other notable artists making cameos include Black Lips, T. Rex and The Rolling Stones. Cera’s agent is apparently aiming to connect with my heart via stacked soundtrack line-ups.

I’m especially looking forward to the new tracks, “We Are SEX BOB-OMB” (Beck), and “We Hate You Please Die” (Broken Social Scene).

The soundtrack will drop August 10 via ABKCO.
