A steady stream of tributes has poured in from friends and colleagues of Juan Maclean/!!!/Maserati drummer Jerry Fuchs, who tragically passed away this weekend after falling down an elevator shaft. NME rounded up a few of these earlier this morning.
LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy states that “[Fuchs] was one of the only people we all knew who was literally great at what he did,” while Holy Ghost’s Alex Frankel writes, “Jerry was the star of every band he played with and will be painfully missed.”
Elsewhere, Juan Maclean left a lengthy post on his site praising both Fuchs’ musical prowess and his friendship: “Jerry was one of my best and most loyal friends. He was hands-down the best drummer I have ever played with or seen for that matter.”
DFA label manager, Jonathan Galkin, also expressed sadness. “You were a really good drummer… but you were a greater friend,” he states. “I love you and miss you.”
