As mentioned earlier, Hans Peter Lindstrøm is putting a rather epic spin on a Christmas classic, releasing a 40-minute-long version of “Little Drummer Boy” that will be available through Rough Trade’s Album Club, website, and stores.
From the four minutes of the song revealed in a clip over at P4K, it seems the Norwegian nu-disco champion hired a large chorus to sing the famous hook over a collection of synth lines and hyper-processed drum beats. It will weird out the purists, for sure, but recall that there are 36 additional minutes we’ve yet to hear. Which is to say, there’s no telling where he may have taken this opus.
The song is available via any of the aforementioned outlets, and also as a free download with purchase of Lindstrøm and Christabelle’s collaborative album, Real Life is No Cool.
