London-based label Something in Construction just made everyone’s day with its Better Pop Music sampler, available as of this morning. The 19-song compilation is a grip of tracks from the likes of Air France, Freelance Whales, Caribou, Phoenix, and some up-and-comers, like Elizabeth Harper’s new project, Class Actress, and Bristol-based outfit Fitness Club Fiasco. Forests and tigers are apparently the theme for Summer 2010, and Memory Tapes (or his alter-ego, Memory Cassette) wins the award for most cameo appearances here.
All tracks can be downloaded for free, right now, over at the NME site.
Those who favor the tangible can bag a physical copy of the sampler by entering the magazine’s new contest. Just comment on the NME site with your favorite summertime tune, “one track that sums up lazy days in the park with good friends and a few ciders.” Winners will be chosen on Monday, May 24.
