Ben Folds joins the roster of artists participating in the A.V. Club’s “Undercover” series, and he’s plucked a classic Elliott Smith song from the pick of tunes still available to cover.
Folds, an avid fan of the late songwriter, paid tribute to Smith with the song “Late,” off 2005′s Songs for Silverman. “Anything to keep his memory and music alive,” Folds tells the A.V. crew, before launching into a stripped-down piano-driven rendition of Either/Or‘s “Say Yes.”
