When asked to contribute to ARAWA‘s second annual Halloween celebration, Memory Tapes went all out, crafting a spooky, 17-minute-long Italo number that’s a love letter to the art of scoring a horror film. Synthesizers have never sounded creepier.

Taylor Hollingsworth wrapped a world tour in August as a member of Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, but the Alabama songwriter won’t put the guitar down just yet. He’ll shimmy over to center stage with the release of his sophomore solo album, Life with a Slow Ear, in which he’ll rock, rasp, and serenade us with roots and folk-flavored tales from the South.

Birthday Jams for Flying Lotus

The ArtDontSleep crew took over L.A.’s Echo Park this weekend and hosted an impromptu jam session to honor beatmaker Flying Lotus‘ birthday. It seems as though one hell of a party ensued, with The Gaslamp Killer, SA-RA’s Shafiq Husayn, Computer Jay, Exile, Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner, and others stopping by to contribute to the festivities. Despite what this song’s sultry rhythms and seductive vocals may lead us to believe, Mayer Hawthorne‘s “Green Eyed Love” is no woman. The Michigan soul singer might have his pick of the ladies in this video, but his thoughts are tuned towards something a little more hypnotic than human flesh.
